Flare sighting - 14th Jan 2008

Skerries Coast Guard were tasked by the Coast Guard’s rescue co-ordination centre in Dublin (MRCC) at 20:00 to investigate a flare sighting. A concerned member of the public had reported distress parachute flares beign deployed near the Rush coastline. Team went to the scene at Rush and searched the north and south beaches with nothing to report. Visibility excellent. Team stood down by MRCC. Call with good intent.

Callout to search beach - 9th Jan 2008

Skerries Coast Guard were tasked by the Coast Guard’s rescue coordination centre in Dublin (MRCC) at 18:44 to search an area of coastline north of Skerries. A member of the public had reported seeing a person on rocks near the water’s edge, possibly requiring assistance. The Skerries team were on scene at 18:51 and conducted a detailed search of the area. No persons requiring assistance were found and the team was stood down by MRCC.
