Training: first aid

Earlier tonight, the Skerries Coast Guard team conducted a training exercise on Red Island. This invloved a night search of the Red Island area and subsequent treatment of a casualty with suspected spinal injuries.

St.Patrick’s day parade

Members of the Skerries Coast Guard team took part in the local St. Patrick’s day parade. A big thank you to the crowds that turned out to cheer us on our way. Here are some of the photos from the day.

Flare sighting - 5th Mar 2008

Skerries Coast Guard were tasked at 22:48 to investigate a flare sighting. Several members of the public had reported parachute flares being deployed near the coastline north of Balbriggan. Team stood down en-route to search location. Source of flares traced by the Coast Guard’s rescue co-ordination centre in Dublin (MRCC) and no further assistance required.
