Members of the Skerries Coast Guard team were featured on tonight’s Firefighters program on RTE 1. The hugely insightful and popular Firefighters series follows the rescues of Dublin Fire Brigade as they respond to a variety of incidents around the capital. In tonight’s episode, DFB units based at Swords and Skerries responded to a vehicle incident on a shoreline near Loughshinny. Helmet cameras worn by some of the DFB crew captured the dramatic nighttime rescue.

All four of the State’s emergency services attended the scene (Ambulance Services, Fire Brigade, Gardai, and Coast Guard) and each contributed a vital element to the successful rescue of the casualty. The casualty was evacuated from the scene by Coast Guard helicopter, with a highline winch transfer used.
